Richard Gere, 69, and his wife Alejandra Silva, 35, have welcomed their first child together almost 12 months after tying the knot in a secret wedding ceremony at the actor’s estate in Pound Ridge, New York just last year. 

According to People, Silva gave birth to a baby boy late last week in New York City, where the pair currently reside. The newborn’s name is yet to be revealed. 

This news comes just five months after Silva took to Instagram to confirm that she and her husband, who share a 33-year age gap, were expecting, before adding that the Dalai Lama had blessed her growing belly. 

"A very special moment just a few minutes ago... Getting blessings for our precious to come.. we couldn’t announce it before telling HH Dalai Lama,” she captioned the now-deleted image. 

The Spanish publicist and humanitarian continued to share a number images to the platform throughout the duration of her pregnancy; everything from pregnant mirror selfies, to candid snaps with horses and a sneak peek inside her low-key wedding day. 

The happy couple are reportedly family friends who first met over a decade ago before reconnecting in 2014. 

“Our karma was attracted the moment we saw each other,” Silva told Hola! in 2015. “I’m not ignoring our age difference and what it means to be with a Hollywood star, but when there’s such a strong karmic energy, the problems disappear.”

Silva has a six-year-old son named Albert from her previous marriage to Govin Friedland, the son of American-Canadian billionaire, financier Robert Martin Friedland. 

Similarly, the Pretty Woman actor shares 18-year-old son, Homer James Jigme, with his second wife, 57-year-old actress Carey Lowell. Gere was also previously married to Cindy Crawford from 1991 to 1995.
